12 - 16 December

Early years and lower school students will continue to learn various vocabulary terms as well as songs pertaining to this time of the year.  They will review various songs that we have learned as well as some new ones in order to reinforce the material introduced in class.  Some of their favorites include the songs pertaining to the colors, greetings and goodbyes, numbers, animals, days of the week, and months of the year.  In addition, students will illustrate the vocabulary and play games in order to reinforce the material.  All of the students will practice the pronunciation of the words and expressions that they are learning in Spanish and the lower school students will also focus on the spelling of these words and expressions.  This week in lower school, students will review the topics that they have learned thus far.  In addition, they will be introduced to new songs and vocabulary pertaining to this time of the year.  Fifth and sixth grade students will continue to acquire various verbs and expressions.  They will practice writing sentences and conjugating verbs in the present tense as well as making adjective agreement in Spanish.  Both the fifth and sixth graders have just completed and shared their presentations that they did on their computers!  

5 - 9 December

3 - 5 October

3K - Kindergarten:

This week students will review and continue to master the various topics that they have learned thus far.  These topics include:  greetings, farewells, feelings, questions, colors, numbers 1-15, days of the week, months of the year, and animals.  In addition, they will be learning various words associated with this time of the year, such as fall, leaf and pumpkin.  Students will be having fun practicing these topics through songs, flashcards, and games.

First Grade:

This week first graders will continue to review the various topics that they have learned thus far.  Last week, they worked on making adjective agreement.  This week, they will continue to do so and will participate in a cumulative activity that combines all of the topics for review in the form of a category game.

Second Grade:

This week second graders will continue to review the various topics that they have learned thus far. In addition, they will learn the four seasons in Spanish as well as new vocabulary words and expressions associated with the month of October and fall.  

Third Grade:

This week third graders will continue to review the various topics that they have learned thus far. Last week, students worked on forming complete sentences in Spanish and adding many new verbs to their vocabulary, such as:  to ride a bicycle, to swim, to watch television, and to write stories.  This week, they will continue to build on this vocabulary and express what they like and do not like to do in their free time.

Fourth Grade:

This week fourth graders will continue to review the various topics that they have learned thus far. Students will continue forming sentences in Spanish and adding various verbs, nouns, and adjectives to their vocabulary.  They will practice spelling these new words and reviewing how to pronounce them in Spanish.

Fifth Grade:

This week fifth graders will continue to review the various topics that they have learned thus far. Students will practice communicating what they and others like to do and do not like to do in their free time.  In addition, they will be introduced to the subject pronouns in Spanish and begin to conjugate verbs ending in -ar in the present tense.  

Sixth Grade:

This week sixth graders will continue to review the various topics that they have learned thus far. Students will continue to review the subject pronouns in Spanish and the present tense endings for regular verbs ending in -ar, -er, and -ir.  They will form sentences in Spanish and create a dialogue between two people reinforcing the greetings, farewells, questions, and activity vocabulary.  

26-30 September:

3K - Kindergarten:

This week in Spanish class, students will review and continue to master the various topics that they have studied thus far.  The material that they are currently learning includes:  greetings, farewells, feelings, questions, colors, numbers 1-15, days of the week, months of the year, and animals.

First Grade:

This week first graders will continue reviewing the material that they have learned thus far. They will continue to combine the topics in order to form conversations and complete sentences verbally in Spanish.  In addition, they will be working on adjective agreement this week.

Second Grade:

This week second graders will continue to practice the topics that they have learned up to this point.  In addition, they will continue to master two new songs which include many new words and expressions.  

Third Grade:

This week third graders will continue to add various verbs and adjectives into their vocabulary notes.  They will continue to write sentences as well as communicate verbally in order to describe themselves and others in Spanish.

Fourth Grade:

This week fourth graders will continue to review and practice the various topics that they have learned thus far.  In addition, they will continue to write sentences, add new verbs, nouns, and adjectives to their vocabulary, as well as communicate verbally and in writing.

Fifth Grade:

This week fifth graders will review and expand upon the topics that they have learned thus far, which include: greetings, farewells, numbers 0-100, classroom expressions, parts of the body, and classroom objects.  In addition, they will learn how to tell time in Spanish as well as express what they like to do in their free time.

Sixth Grade:

This week fifth graders will review and expand upon the topics that they have learned thus far, which include:  greetings, farewells, numbers 0-100, classroom expressions, parts of the body, classroom objects, how to tell time, as well as express what they like to do in their free time. Students will learn the subject pronouns in Spanish and how to conjugate verbs ending in -ar in the present tense.

19 - 23 September:                

3K - Kindergarten:
This week students will master greetings, introductions, goodbyes, numbers 1-10, colors, days of the week, months of the year, feelings, and animals.  They will review this material through various songs that they have learned as well as activities in class to reinforce these points.

First Grade:
This week first graders will be reviewing all of the material that they have learned thus far through a cumulative activity.  In addition, they will be learning how to put all of their vocabulary together in Spanish to create a conversation between two people.

Second Grade:
This week second graders will be reviewing all of the material that they have learned thus far through a cumulative activity.  In addition, they will be learning two new songs that combine many new vocabulary words and expressions.

Third Grade:
This week third graders will be reviewing all of the material that they have learned thus far through a cumulative activity.  In addition, they will continue to write sentences using various new adjectives and verbs in order to describe themselves and others.

Fourth Grade:
This week fourth graders will be reviewing all of the material that they have learned thus far through a cumulative activity.  In addition, they will review the classroom objects and expressions of courtesy, as well as the definite and indefinite objects that go before nouns in Spanish.

Fifth Grade:
This week fifth graders will be reviewing all of the material that they have learned thus far through a cumulative activity.  In addition, students will be practicing and reviewing page 22 in their Spanish books for a quiz on the sections:  to greet someone, to ask and tell how someone is, and to say goodbye.  The quiz will take place on 26 September during class.  Students will continue to formulate sentences in Spanish by adding more nouns, adjectives, and verbs to their vocabulary.

Sixth Grade:
This week sixth graders will be reviewing all of the material that they have learned thus far through a cumulative activity.  In addition, students will be practicing and reviewing page 22 in their Spanish books for a quiz on the sections:  to ask and tell how someone is, to say goodbye, and to tell time. The quiz will take place on 22 September during class.  Students will continue to formulate sentences in Spanish by adding more nouns, adjectives, and verbs to their vocabulary.

12-16 September:

This week in Spanish class students will be learning and reviewing greetings and good-byes, feelings and emotions, colors, numbers, animals, classroom objects, expressions of courtesy, as well as the days of the week and months of the year.

In the fifth and sixth grade classrooms, students will be learning how to express the time and weather in Spanish.  In addition, they will study the varying climates in Spanish-speaking countries at different times of the year.  Students will be able to convert the temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit in Spanish.  They will review the material that we have covered thus far including:  greetings, good-byes, classroom objects, days of the week, the date, months of the year, weather, seasons, numbers 0-100, parts of the body, and various questions.

3K - Kindergarten:

This week students will be reviewing how to say hello, goodbye and expressing how they are feeling.  In addition, they will review the colors, the numbers 1-10, and the animals.  They will be learning these topics through a variety of activities in class.

First Grade:

Students will review greetings and farewells, express how they are feeling as well as ask others how they are feeling.  In addition, they will review colors, numbers, animals, and the alphabet.

Second Grade:

Students will review greetings and farewells, express how they are feeling as well as ask others how they are feeling.  In addition, they will review colors, numbers, animals, and the alphabet.  They will pay close attention to the sounds that the vowels make as well as certain consonants.  Students will create conversations using the various topics from the review material.

Third Grade:

Students will review many topics from last year from which they will build upon.  Students will review the alphabet, greetings and farewells, colors, numbers, tú and usted, as well express their likes and dislikes while learning various new vocabulary words and phrases.

Fourth Grade:

Students will review many topics from last year from which they will build upon.  They will continue to master the subject pronouns, the alphabet, colors, numbers, greetings and farewells, how to express feelings and emotions, as well as learn various new vocabulary words and phrases.

Fifth Grade:

Students will review greetings, goodbyes, ask and respond to various questions, review tú versus usted as well as the other subject pronouns, classroom commands, numbers 1-100, parts of the body, how to ask and tell time, and masculine and feminine definite articles.

Sixth Grade:

Students will review greetings, goodbyes, ask and respond to various questions, review tú versus usted as well as the other subject pronouns, classroom commands, numbers 1-100, parts of the body, how to ask and tell time, masculine and feminine definite articles, classroom objects, and days of the week and months of the year.

Seventh Grade:

Students will review various verbs and adjectives, which will include the class schedule and classes, classroom objects, breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods, the present tense conjugations of verbs ending in –ar, -er, and –ir as well as the verb gustar, how to make adjectives plural, pastime vocabulary, and interrogative words.
